Description

ES Series

A truly scalable system, it is compact and modular with all the electronics and amplification housed in separate, portable units – the EPAK 2500 and 2500R. Placing the active electronics package outboard results in a lighter, easier to handle system with much more flexibility. Its compact size reduces transport costs and either ground stacked or own, it is quick and easy to setup, cutting labour costs dramatically. The EPAK 2500/R control unit incorporates four amplifiers. Electronic crossover filters, time alignment, equalization, system protection, and level controls are all done onboard, utilizing industry leading 20MHz digital conversion where required.

Description

The ES1.0 Mid/High speaker and the EPAK2500/R make up the core of the amazing sounding, incredibly dynamic ES system. Each ES1.0 requires an EPAK2500/R to power it and the three way cabinet includes a 12” horn loaded mid bass driver, 6” horn loaded mid speaker, and 1.75" Titanium compression driver. You can rotate the ES 1.0 horn assembly in order to run the system in a vertical or horizontal configuration, and couple two ES1.0 cabinets together horizontally to create a very powerful, long throw solution.

As well as driving the three way ES1.0 cabinet, a fourth amplifier channel in the EPAK2500/R control unit is dedicated to powering a choice of ES series subwoofers. The ES1.5 is a lightweight single 15” enclosure, the ES1.8 a horn reflex, single 18” subwoofer and the ES2.5 /2.6 a double 15”, twin asymmetrical design, available in either four Ohm (ES2.5) or eight Ohm (ES2.6) versions.

Simple to set up and use The ES System has been designed for plug and play operation. It would take a dozen or more outboard components, sophisticated measuring equipment and a degree in acoustic engineering to achieve the optimization we’ve built into the EPAK 2500/R. A multi position switch allows you to select from various subwoofer combinations, you decide which plug and play bass modules you want to use, select and go.

The meticulously designed control electronics inside the EPAK2500/R constantly monitor and preserve the relationship between each amplifier and component, delivering exactly the right amount and type of power throughout the system. When you’re able to perfectly match an amplifier with a transducer you start to unlock incredible performance that is impossible to achieve with passive systems. Total system reliability increases dramatically as does sound quality. With this kind of precision and efficiency built in, you’ll be amazed at the quality, depth, level and resolution produced by an ES system.

Q: When I hang either a single or a double ES1.0 in the HORIZONTAL mode, does it matter which way the enclosure is presented? For example should the horn assembly be on the 'outside', or should the port be on the 'outside', does it matter?

A: YES, this is very important, when hanging either a single or a double ES1.0 enclosure, in a Left/Right configuation, the left hang should have the horn on the 'outside', port on the 'inside, similarly, the right hang should mirror this effect.
The reasons for this are that the enclosure and horn are designed to disperse the sound in a downward effect,(approx 10-15deg depending on frequency), and similarly to reduce reflections from the outside walls and perimiters.

Q: I want to use more than one single ES1.0 per side of the stage; can I place them together like an Array?

All KV2 Audio loudspeaker units are designed with low loss, low compression horn assemblies and are low’q’.
Their wide dispersion aspects mean that physical side by side ‘arraying’ is not the correct method or way to utilize the loudspeakers in application, primarily due to the interaction effects which cause poor phase response, frequency response and in-accurate dispersion.
It is entirely feasible to utilize a combination of two ES1.0 enclosures, providing that they are located and placed as highlighted in the picture below.

Please refer to the ‘Technology’ tab or download Disarray-Theory

Q: Can I use my existing EX2.5 or EX1.8 active subwoofer to add to an ES system consisting of either ES2.5/2.6 or ES1.8 subwoofers?

Yes, it is possible to use any of the EX Subwoofers as an extension, or addition to other KV2 product ranges, however it is important to recognize and understand that the phase of all the EX subwoofers is ‘Opposite’ to the ES subwoofers, so to use in a correct manner and to achieve the desired effect of ‘addition’, a reverse phase XLR connector will be required.

* Please note: If you are using the EX2.5 MkII, then you will need to add a single passive ES2.6 to maintain full output and balance of the system.

Q: I would like to have a separate signal for subs on EPAK2500R and then send it to forward to another EPAK2500R? How do you recommend wiring and Inserts buttons position?

The ES is designed as a complete system for optimum performance with regards to integration and therefore we do not recommend separating subwoofer operation from the main input feed. However if there is an important requirement to do this please refer to the chapter Using the system of EPAK2500R user manual.

Q: How to set up cardioid Sub patterns with ES and VHD systems?

The quickest route to understanding and applying cardioid sub patterns is to refer to the SDD3 user manual page 8 and 9. If you require further instructions please contact your local dealer.
